The Internal Revenue Service has acknowledged technical problems affecting certain Spanish-language online services during the 2025 filing season. Some taxpayers using Spanish tools to retrieve transcripts or verification letters are encountering errors that prevent documents from loading through the agency’s online system. The disruption may slow return preparation for taxpayers who depend on translated IRS tools to review tax records and confirm prior filing information.

Technical Errors Reported in Spanish Transcript Access

Some Spanish-language users attempting to access transcript-related documents online may see an error message indicating “dificultades técnicas” (technical difficulties). The issue appears on the Spanish-language Get Transcript page, where taxpayers normally retrieve records connected to an income tax return or confirm prior-year information.

When the document cannot be displayed online, taxpayers may need to submit Form 4506-T, Request for Transcript of Tax Return, to receive the record by mail. The transcript system typically provides access through a secure portal, but the workaround shifts the request to a paper process.

Transcripts are usually delivered as a downloadable PDF file that may require Adobe Acrobat or another compatible reader. These documents often include wage information, filing history, and other details needed to prepare a tax return or confirm prior filing data.

Expanded Spanish Tax Services Support Filing Season

Over the past several years, Spanish-language services on IRS.gov have grown as part of broader multilingual access efforts. Taxpayers can now review IRS forms, guidance documents, and other item files in Spanish while preparing declaraciones de impuestos personales.

Many of these resources help taxpayers understand key topics such as backup withholding, virtual currency reporting, and eligibility for credits like the Child Tax Credit. Spanish-language explanations are also available for programs, including the Crédito Tributario por Hijos and Crédito Tributario por Ingreso del Trabajo.

The expansion includes translated pages explaining how to apply for an IRS Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, how to file an e-filed return, and how to review information linked to Declaraciones del año tributario 2025.

Online Account Tools Help Taxpayers Verify Records

The online account system allows taxpayers to review balances, payment history, and notices related to a "declaración de impuestos federales." Many filers use the system to confirm prior-year adjusted gross income before submitting an e-filed return.

Security features such as multi-factor authentication and other security protocols protect taxpayer data stored in the account. Access to these records helps prevent identity theft and supports tools such as the Identity Protection PIN program.

The account also allows users to review documents related to credits or payments, including Economic Impact Payments and other federal tax benefits.

Tax Credits and Filing Tools Available in Spanish

Spanish-language tools on IRS.gov help taxpayers check eligibility for several federal tax benefits. The Interactive Tax Assistant allows users to explore eligibility for credits such as the Child Tax Credit or the Crédito Tributario por Ingreso del Trabajo.

Some taxpayers also rely on translated guidance covering the Clean Vehicle Tax Credit, which provides incentives for certain electric vehicle purchases. Other resources help explain filing requirements for taxpayers with business income, including those operating a sole proprietorship.

Guidance is also available for specialized forms connected to certain situations, such as Form 8379 for Injured Spouse Allocation and Form 8821 for authorizing a representative to access tax records.

Transcript Records Often Required for Financial Applications

Tax transcripts are commonly requested for purposes beyond filing a return. Colleges, lenders, and housing programs often require official records to confirm reported income.

Students applying for financial aid may need a Verification of Non-Filing Letter or a transcript to confirm that no income tax return was filed during a specific year. These documents can also support loan applications or other financial reviews.

If the Spanish portal cannot display the letter, taxpayers may need to submit Form 4506-T by mail, which can extend processing times compared with immediate online access.

Assistance Available Through Phone and In-Person Support

Taxpayers who encounter problems accessing Spanish-language tools can use alternative support channels. The agency’s Find Help pages allow individuals to locate nearby Taxpayer Assistance Centers for in-person help with federal tax questions.

Spanish-language phone assistance is also available through the main taxpayer line at 800-829-1040. Interpreter services support additional languages, including Haitian Creole.

Additional support services include programs such as Tax Counseling for the Elderly and online guidance materials, such as the Taxpayer Guide to Identity Theft, which help taxpayers respond to suspicious activity involving their tax records.

Filing Season Updates and Monitoring System Access

IRS.gov typically posts updates on system outages or processing delays. Early in the filing season, tax professionals often advise verifying account information, particularly when transcripts are required to prepare declaraciones de impuestos federales.

Spanish-speaking taxpayers who rely on translated tools may want to check their account access early and keep backup options available in case technical issues affect online services.

Confirming records in advance can help reduce delays when filing a tax return and ensure taxpayers receive their "reembolso de impuestos" without interruption.
